If she knew I was sad right now, she’d grab the soft part of my upper arm with her sharp nails and say “That is unacceptable. Do you hear me?!” And that would scare the crap out of me, and I would straighten right up. That was all it took as a kid. She was that good. And she was awesome.
She wanted to skydive. She was 75. So for Mother’s Day, 2007, she went skydiving.
And she did. I was on the ground taking photos, too scared to join her. Another 10 family and friends joined her. I know a bunch of crazy people. :)
With 2 of her 3 favorite sons-in-law. Her other favorite son-in-law shared U of A Wildcat basketball season tickets with her, so he was forgiven for not joining in on the fun.
She was gorgeous. I guess I take after my father. :)
My all-time favorite photo of her, with my grandmother. She laughed big. And it was amazing.
It’s been 6 years. The day to day has gotten easier. And she wouldn’t tolerate my moping about. So I’ll do my best not to. Instead, I’ll just try to be the best version of myself, which is all she ever asked of us.
